What was it like working with Charlotte’s?
From start to finish, I had the most wonderful experience with Charlotte’s! With most of my family out of town, I did the majority of my dress shopping with a friend, and the staff at Charlotte’s really made sure that I still had the experience that every bride should! Once I had narrowed my choices, both mine and my husband’s family took over the salon and the staff truly gave us the most wonderful experience! Everyone was so knowledgeable, helpful, and patient—and even though I had already tried on once, they didn’t bat an eye when the mom’s and grandma’s started pulling gowns all over again! They truly gave my family and I the best experience I could have imagined!
How did you and your fiance meet?
We had met over Oktoberfest weekend through some mutual friends—after chasing me for over a year I finally gave in to what I knew I was missing out on and 2 years, a dog, and too many moves to count, here we are!
How did he propose?
He called me from work and told me that he would be off in an hour and to get dressed up because we were going out to a nice dinner! He got home, changed, and we left and went to dinner at the Freighthouse! After dinner, I thought we were headed home but we started heading up towards the bluffs- we went passed Granddad’s and kept going to the old rock quarry that we had hiked in the past. It was a beautiful night out- both the moon and the stars were out- so we started to go down a trail. We stopped and star-gazed for a while and then were about to head back when he had stopped all of the sudden. When I asked why he was stopping he started to say why he loved me and what I meant to him and he got down on his knee and proposed! Of course I said yes right away (through the tears!), and I couldn’t wait to start planning the beginning of our forever!
What was your favorite part of your wedding day?
Our entire day was absolutely everything we had dreamed of but I think my two favorite parts were seeing him waiting for me at the end of the aisle, knowing that he was finally becoming my husband, and getting the car ride from the ceremony to pictures and the reception to just be together—just the two of us—and have that time to talk and process and just take everything in!
What is one piece of advice you would give brides that are just beginning their search for the perfect wedding gown?
To keep an open mind and to trust your instinct! I had thought that I knew what I wanted but I was so pleasantly surprised that I had tried on my gown “just to see!” I knew instantly that it was the one—the veil went on and I could picture myself walking down the aisle to my groom.
Is there anything special or unique about your wedding that you would like to highlight?
We really tried to use rich colors that would complement the season and the color of my dress and Zac’s dress blues. I absolutely loved how all of the colors came together to give us that rich look of timeless elegance and class! From my dress and Zac’s uniform to the bridesmaid’s dresses and groomsman’s tuxes to the flowers, place settings, cake, and tablecloths—everything came together perfectly!
